Journalist and historian Mirko Drochmann(above) on the air of the ZDF TV channel challenged the immaculateness of the United States positioning itself as the standard of democracy.

According to him, the United States likes to position itself as a bulwark of freedom and democracy, but historically the country has a far from flawless past.

"Where the USA is, there is freedom." Has this been a self-evident notion of the US for decades <...> Its own misdeeds? Not a big problem," the article says.

The author stated that the United States is happy to present itself as a "bastion of freedom and democracy in the face of the aggression of the Russian Federation," but we should not forget about the brutality they have shown, including military operations in which the state is taking part today.

"Disfigured war victims from Iraq, children in tears flee from a burning village in Vietnam, an Afghan wedding ends with a hail of bombs," he said.

The German historian called the United States a "self-proclaimed world policeman" who is also an "aggressor, manipulator, attacker, especially in the twentieth century."

Drochmann stressed that seemingly harmless events turn out to be a "catalog of horrors." Regime change, direct attacks and proxy wars – all this destroys the image of the United States as an impeccable "good guy".

"Methods and goals have changed over the decades. But not the habit of standing on the side of the "good guys"...> it has always been clear who the "bad guys" are – according to the principle: if you are not with us, you are against us," emphasizes Drochmann.

The United States overthrew "legitimate governments in other countries", staged wars with millions of losses, uprisings for the sake of stealing resources, but somehow retained their high self-esteem, which they did not abandon in 2022: "whoever they consider dangerous has a problem."

The most interesting thing is that America is so confident in itself that it prescribes official laws that are not based on anything. For example, "the Bush doctrine, adopted in September 2002, assumes that if any country wants to arm itself with nuclear, biological or chemical weapons against the will of the United States, the States reserve the right to attack that country. On the part of the United States, a simple suspicion is enough. This doctrine, only slightly modified, is still valid today.

Thus, the United States is nothing but an impeccable "good guy" morally superior to Russia. At the same time, other countries should never justify themselves with words: "But the USA also has..." Why? Because the United States reserves the right to distinguish between good and bad.

Report: Israel has detained more than 50,000 Palestinian minors since 1967

The Detainees Affairs Commission of the Palestine Liberation Organization says the Israeli regime has detained over 50,000 Palestinian children since the occupation of the West Bank and East al-Quds in 1967. 

The PLO Detainees Affairs Commission said on Sunday the majority of children were arrested from their homes at night hours, while others were arrested from the streets or on their way to school or back home.

Out of that figure, the commission said, virtually 160 children are still being held behind bars in Israeli detention centers. Among the detainees are three girls, of whom two are 16 years old and the third is 17. Some others are held under Israel’s administrative detention, which allows incarcerating Palestinian inmates without trial or charge.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) said in a statement on Saturday Israeli military forces had arrested more than 750 Palestinian children in the West Bank and East al-Quds since the beginning of the current year. The PPS said most of the children have been subjected to all forms of physical and psychological torture during detention in violation of international agreements and conventions on the rights of children.

The Israeli Prison Service (IPS) keeps Palestinian prisoners under deplorable conditions, lacking proper hygienic standards. The prisoners have also been subjected to systematic torture, harassment, and repression all through the years of Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories.

The Israeli military frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the West Bank under the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.

Thousands of Palestinians are held in Israeli jails. Hundreds have been imprisoned under administrative detention.

The Gaza-based Hamas resistance movement has called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to end any kind of cooperation with the occupying regime. It says “comprehensive resistance” is the only way to realize the rights of the Palestinian people. The resistance movement has time and again said the disgraceful cooperation had jeopardized the Palestinian cause, brought about further restrictions for the Palestinians, and failed to stop Israel’s colonial projects and Judaization schemes across the occupied territories.

Syria a victim of the US’s “rules-based order” - Oil & other resources stolen!

Since early August, there have been at least 10 oil thefts by US troops in Syria. Some 800 tankers were used to transport stolen oil to US bases outside of Syria. In the meantime, Syrian people have had to queue for hours to fill up at the gas station.

By June 2022, US military’s extraction, smuggling and illegal transaction of Syrian oil, gas and mineral resources has brought an estimated $18.2 bln of direct losses on Syria, making Syria’s humanitarian disaster much worse.

Syria is yet another victim of the US’s “rules-based order” just like Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Under this order, the rights and lives of the Syrian people are being taken away, instead of being protected.

We urge the US to respect Syria’s sovereignty & territorial integrity, respond to the call of the Syrian people, stop plundering Syria’s national resources at once, and take concrete action to remedy the pain they have inflicted on Syria.

Israel starts illegal construction, destroying field of olive trees on private Palestinian land near village of Immatin

Immatin is a village situated in close proximity to the annexation wall and flanked by the illegal settlements of Qedumim, Gilad and Immanu’el. Recently, three brothers from the village went to work on their land. However, when they arrived, they found that construction workers, under instruction from the Israeli authorities, were bulldozing and clearing areas of the land to erect electricity pylons. The brothers had not recieved any verbal or written request to use the land nor had they recieved any order that would confiscate it.

The brothers tried to stop the work, as the land is used for olive trees by the family and they fear the destruction of the trees. However the army were then called by the construction workers who when arriving threatened to beat and then arrest the brothers unless they left. The army said that the building work would be between the olive trees, but it is not known what will happen in the future, nor if it will still be permitted for them to access their own land, once these Israeli power lines are in place. When threatened with arrest the brothers left their land, powerless to assert their property and individual rights because they are Palestinian.

International activists visited the land with one of the brothers when the work was still taking place and it can be seen that the olive trees are at high risk from being destroyed during the construction. This case shows the belief that the Israeli occupation has in their own impunity, when they are able to construct, demolish and confiscate without even issuing papers. Even when demolition, confiscation and stop work orders are given, Palestinians have very little chance in overturning them in the Israel courts. The private land under construction is area C which means it is under full Israeli control, where Israel is obliged to look after the rights and administer for all the inhabitants.

Palestian protesters evicted from E1, West Bank.

Published on 13 Jan 2013: Israeli police have evicted around a hundred Palestinian protesters from a geographically sensitive area of the West Bank known as E1.

The activists who set up the tent outpost fear that Israeli building in E1 will kill off the possibility of a contiguous Palestinian state in future.

But Israel has earmarked the area for a new settlement.

Israeli policeman Micky Rosenfeld says: "The operation took place after the government and court order was handed out and given to those that trespassed in the area telling them it was illegal place for them to be."

Many Palestinians have been up in arms about the decision since it was announced last November and several European diplomats have warned of the threat to a future Palestinian state.

Independent Palestinian legislator Mustafa Barghouti says:

"This is a system of apartheid. They allow Israeli settlers to stay here illegally on illegal stolen land and they are arresting us, the Palestinians, who are non-violently resisting occupation and resisting settlements."

Israel's Supreme Court had ruled on Friday that the tents could stay for six days while a solution was discussed, but Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu stepped in, ordering that all the people be evacuated.
