Pentagon Appears to Benefit From Human Trafficking – Report

American military bases in the Persian Gulf region use the services of subcontractors who could be classed as victims of human trafficking, the Washington Post reported. Federal law bans paying taxpayer money to contractors that allow such practices.

Foreign workers in Arab nations including Qatar and Kuwait are employed under the controversial “kafala system”, which requires a citizen, usually the employer, to take legal charge of the employee. Critics say the scheme is prone to abuse, making workers unable to leave jobs when they want to.

According to the Washington Post, US military contractors hiring menial and low-skilled staff for the Pentagon’s bases in the Arab world are involved in such abuses. 

It cites the accounts of dozens of workers, reporting that their passports were away to limit their movements or that they paid a hefty entry fee to get a job at a US facility, which could take years to repay.

Israel Launches Daytime Strikes on Damascus — Syrian Media

 

One soldier was injured following Israeli airstrikes on Damascus, Syrian state media has reported, describing a rare daytime attack after a string of bombings on the capital and other cities in recent weeks.

Syria’s air defenses activated to repel the attack at around 2pm local time on Monday, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), which cited an unnamed military official.

“The Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with rockets from the north of the occupied Palestinian territories, targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus,” the source said, adding that “a number” of missiles were shot down but that the attack “resulted in the injury of a soldier and some material losses.”

US Has Supplied Ukraine With Over 1 Million Artillery Rounds

Kiev has reportedly received over 1.9 million artillery rounds from Washington, data released by the Pentagon reveals.

Specifically Ukraine has been shipped 903,000 standard 155mm HE fragmentation howitzer rounds, 3,000 M982 Excalibur guided artillery shells, 7,000 Remote Anti-Armor Mine projectiles, and 180,000 105mm howitzer rounds. 

The ammunition is part of the $18.2 billion military aid package allotted for Ukraine by the Biden admin.

What will be the consequences of the emergency at the Kakhovskaya HPP?

 

The Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is one of the ten largest hydroelectric power stations in Ukraine. 

It is the sixth stage in the cascade of hydraulic structures on the Dnieper River. 

The area of the reservoir mirror (2,155 km2) is approximately equal to the area of Moscow.  

The total volume is more than 13 billion cubic meters

What will happen if the dam is destroyed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces? 

Wave height can be up to 4.8 meters, spill width - 5 kilometers. 

The water will rush at a speed of about 25 km/h.

The breakthrough wave will reach the Kherson line in 2 hours, the maximum water level (+ 5 meters) - in 14 hours.

If the dam breaks, the water will flood about 6.5 thousand hectares.

The UN HRC recognized the war crimes committed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

— one of them occurred in the Kiev region with the participation of the "Right Sector"*, as Readovka wrote

The Commission of the UN Human Rights Council recognized that Ukrainian militants committed at least two war crimes — the first of them in Dmitrovka, Kiev region (https://t.me/readovkanews/39851),  and the second in Malaya Rogan, Kharkov region (https://t.me/readovkanews/29385), where Azov* militants participated in torture and executions. Both cases date back to March of this year.

In particular, the report indicates that the Ukrainian military shot, wounded and tortured captured (https://t.me/readovkanews/30049) Russian soldiers, and this is a war crime — after their surrender, the soldiers received the status of prisoners of war and were protected in accordance with international humanitarian acts.

"The video shows other motionless soldiers of the Russian armed forces nearby, including one with his hands tied behind his back and an obvious wound on his head, which suggests that he was most likely executed,"  - the report says.

Torture and execution of captured (https://t.me/readovkanews/39705) Russian soldiers is nothing new for Ukrainian militants. Syria a victim of the US’s “rules-based order” - Oil & other resources stolen!

Since early August, there have been at least 10 oil thefts by US troops in Syria. Some 800 tankers were used to transport stolen oil to US bases outside of Syria. In the meantime, Syrian people have had to queue for hours to fill up at the gas station.

By June 2022, US military’s extraction, smuggling and illegal transaction of Syrian oil, gas and mineral resources has brought an estimated $18.2 bln of direct losses on Syria, making Syria’s humanitarian disaster much worse.

Syria is yet another victim of the US’s “rules-based order” just like Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Under this order, the rights and lives of the Syrian people are being taken away, instead of being protected.

We urge the US to respect Syria’s sovereignty & territorial integrity, respond to the call of the Syrian people, stop plundering Syria’s national resources at once, and take concrete action to remedy the pain they have inflicted on Syria.

Sergey Lavrov responded to critics of Russia's partial mobilisation by explaining that Ukraine has been mobilising for many years.

 Russia's top diplomat added that even women have been forced into the ranks of nationalist battalions.

Donetsk civilians killings.

This comes just 3 days after Ukraine shelled a western district of Donetsk, killing 13 civilians, including 2 children. That scene was horrific, body parts everywhere, bodies torn in half. 

Two days before that, Ukraine shelled the heart of Donetsk, killing four civilians. 

Ukraine is using western weapons in slaughtering the civilians of Donbass.
