April 15, 2012 "Information Clearing House" ---  FALLUJAH, Iraq, Apr 13, 2012 (IPS) - At Fallujah hospital they cannot offer any statistics on children born with birth defects – there are just too many. Parents don’t want to talk. "Families bury their newborn babies after they die without telling anyone," says hospital spokesman Nadim al-Hadidi. "It’s all too shameful for them."

"We recorded 672 cases in January but we know there were many more," says Hadidi. He projects pictures on to a wall at his office: children born with no brain, no eyes, or with the intestines out of their body. 

Facing a frozen image of a child born without limbs, Hadidi says parents’ feelings usually range between shame and guilt. "They think it’s their fault, that there’s something wrong with them. And it doesn’t help at all when some elder tells them it’s been ‘god’s punishment’." 

The pictures are difficult to look at. And, those responsible for all this have closed their eyes. 

"In 2004 the Americans tested all kinds of chemicals and explosive devices on us: thermobaric weapons, white phosphorous, depleted uranium...we have all been laboratory mice for them," says Hadidi, turning off the projector. 

The months that followed the invasion of Iraq in 2003 saw persistent demonstrations against the occupation forces. But it wasn’t until 2004 when this city by the Euphrates river to the west of Baghdad saw its worst. 

On Mar. 31 of that year, images of the dismembered bodies of four mercenaries from the U.S. group Blackwater hanging from a bridge circulated around the world. Al-Qaeda claimed the brutal action - and the local population paid the price for Operation Phantom Fury that followed. According to the Pentagon, this was the biggest urban battle since Hue (Vietnam, 1968).

The court dismissed that delay but extended the deadline beyond the end of March when settlers were supposed to leave, under an earlier ruling.

In Tel Aviv, the rights group Peace Now is content: "We are satisfied with the decision of the Supreme Court to reject the deal between the government and the settlers," said Peace Now's Director-General Yariv Oppenheimer. "The land of Migron should go back to it's owners, the Palestinians."It is another blow to Benjamin Netanyahu's government, just days after the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva launched an international investigation into Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories.

Israel actively supports theft of Palestinian water, says new UN report.

The Israeli government has turned a blind eye — and often actively supported — the illegal takeover of water springs located on private Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank by Israeli settlers, according to a new report released by the United Nations’ leading humanitarian body..

“All the development of these tourist sites is being done with the support of [the] state budget. The main mechanism is funds that are being allocated primarily, but not only, by the regional councils of the settlements,” explained Yehezkel Lein, head of the Research and Analysis Unit at the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), during a media briefing on 13 March.

“The Binyamin Regional Council is the most active in this regard,” Lein said, referring to the a local authority that brings together more than forty Israeli settlements. “Now the regional councils are being funded by the central government [through] the ministry of interior, so we can see the line.”

Israel's utter failure!

Much have been said about Ashkenazim Jews hauling most of the Nobel prizes or being able to control America despite being only 2% of them. However there is one area where they, in their control of the state of Israel completely failed to provide safety and security to the people under their occupation  as required by the Geneva convention, instead and contrary to that convention, they are the ones guilty of murdering & slaughtering those under their occupation.

As for the 'collateral damage' -- the twenty-something injured (including women, children, and the elderly) because they happened to be walking in the street where Israel decided to take out a car, a motorbike - what sort of treatment can they receive when an already overcrowded, under-resourced and under-staff emergency department with only 3-4 doctors already coping with 150 patients in two hours is inundated with by victims of Israeli attacks? When the hospital is suffering electricity cuts because there is no diesel to run the power plant, when it is suffering medicine and medical supply shortages of 185 essential medicines and over 200 essential medical supplies such as gloves, alcohol, sutures? When there are no more beds left to admit them? How can Gazans survive? (See video All the world sees)

Israel plans to construct 500 new settlement units on occupied lands.

The Israel regime says it plans to construct hundreds of new settlement units in the occupied West Bank despite international opposition.

An Israeli committee is set to give the go-ahead for the constructions in the settlement of Shilo, near the northern Palestinian city of Nablus. The committee "will meet today to approve [the] construction of 500 units," civil administration spokesman Guy Inbar said on Wednesday. It will also legalize more than 200 units built earlier without an Israeli permit, some in a nearby settler outpost of Shvut Rachel, “for humanitarian reasons,” Inbar claimed.

Israel continues its settlement construction in the occupied Palestinian territories despite condemnation from the international community. The settlements are considered illegal under international law and the international community has never recognized the legality of the move. Thousands of Israelis have been living in a dozen settlement neighborhoods since Israel's occupation of the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem) in 1967.

Meanwhile, Israel has intensified the demolition of Palestinian homes in the West Bank. A new report released by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs' (OCHA) said that the number of Palestinian homes ruined by Israel in the West Bank dramatically increased in 2011. According to the report, more than 1,100 Palestinians, including children and women, in the West Bank were displaced last year, marking an 80-percent increase from 2010, due to the demolition of their homes by Israelis. 

The report echoes a recent statement released by over 20 groups, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Oxfam International at the end of 2011.

February 20, 2012 "War Is A Crime" -- A little known aspect of World War II history is that immediately after the end of major hostilities, as Europe lay in ruins, millions of Germans in Ally-occupied Germany and people in other Axis nations descended into a spiral of humanitarian crisis, and faced the specter of mass starvation as Allies bickered over the spoils of war. After a particularly harsh winter in 1946 - 1947, Assistant Secretary of State William Clayton reported to Washington that "millions of people are slowly starving." With the infrastructure ruined, and with a shortage of coal, many Germans froze to death.

Finally President Harry Truman was persuaded by General George Marshall to implement the Marshall Plan, by which million of tons in assistance was delivered to populations by the Allies. Marshall warned that "The patient is sinking while the doctors deliberate." Truman understood that there would be no more fertile ground for left-leaning ideologies to take hold than in populations which were cold, hungry, and hopeless. In 1949, at the Fourth Geneva Convention, the responsibilities of an "occupying power" were recognized as a part of international law, to remain in effect as long as the occupier was the true and final authority in the client country, regardless of the nominal existence of a new, indigenous national government.

Article 55 of the Geneva Conventions states:

"To the fullest extent of the means available to it, the Occupying Power has the duty of ensuring the food and medical supplies of the population; it should, in particular, bring in the necessary foodstuffs, medical stores and other articles if the resources of the occupied territory are inadequate...."

Article 59:

"If the whole or part of the population of an occupied territory is inadequately supplied, the Occupying Power shall agree to relief schemes on behalf of the said population, and shall facilitate them by all the means at its disposal. Such schemes, which may be undertaken either by States or by impartial humanitarian organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, shall consist, in particular, of the provision of consignments of foodstuffs, medical supplies and clothing."

And Article 60 insured that even if civilian relief efforts are underway:

"Relief consignments shall in no way relieve the Occupying Power of any of its responsibilities under Articles 55, 56 and 59."
